Elsewhere on the lower level we embraced the existing native carob trees and planted a variety of tones and textures, including purple verbena, golden grasses and rosemary.
A multi-level, contemporary home requires a garden design abundant with life. The client brief was to create a variety of spaces that could be used for relaxing, entertaining and playing, as well as planting a tapestry of colour and light.
On the lower level of the property, we constructed a large rockery that abuts the side of the swimming pool above and placed large stones to create different tiers, filling them with green shrubs and flowers. We left the stone walls open without mortar to create different sized nooks for wildlife and insects to hide in. At the base of the rockery, we installed a lightly gravelled pathway, which will become very informal once the surrounding plants grow.
Elsewhere on the lower level we embraced the existing native carob trees and planted a variety of tones and textures, including purple verbena, golden grasses and rosemary.
Amongst the planting beds is a bespoke play complex for the client’s children with a cargo net, raised platform, climbing pyramid, tunnel and slide with swings.
Throughout the garden there are deep, high planting beds bursting with colour, tone and texture that, over time, will become living paintings.
As well as all the natural planting beds, we also placed large concrete pots of palms and bougainvillea around the property on both levels to bring colour and also soften the sharp lines of the home.
